Update on transportation during the World Championships.

Access to Val d'Isère during the FIS World Alpine Ski Championships will be made possible via a specific transport network devised to offer easy access to our guests. Geneva Cointrin, Lyon Saint Exupéry, Grenoble Saint Geoirs and Chambéry airports will form the principal international gateways to Val d'Isère. "Val d'Isère 2009" welcome desks are to be installed in these airports and will be open to the general public.
Scheduled bus routes, especially Satobus from Lyon Saint Exupéry and Altibus from Geneva Cointrin will operate airport transfers to Val d'Isère. Bourg St Maurice train station, TGV, Thallys and Eurostar destination, will constitute an important gateway for the international clientele travelling to the event. It will also be a prime welcome point for both national and international visitors.

A welcome zone is to be created within the station and team members from the event will be at the spectators service.
Specific arrangements, within the framework of the public transport policies created by the Rhone Alpes regional council and the SNCF, are to be put into operation for access to the World Championships. Chartered direct regional trains to Bourg St Maurice from Annemasse, Lyon and Grenoble and other main regional towns, will offer the local population the possibility of a return trip to the event for 1 euro!

Free, regular shuttles buses from Bourg St Maurice to the World Championship venue will be operating from January 31st to February 15th from 7am to 9pm. These shuttle buses will be free for everyone.
It is the aim of the Savoy County Council to transport as many spectators and visitors as possible to Val d'Isère via the public transport systems.
These shuttles will be timed to coincide with trains arriving in Bourg St Maurice.
They will also be open to people travelling to Bourg St Maurice by car who may leave their car in one of the specially assigned car parks.
Val d'Isère's taxi companies will also be on hand to offer transportation during the event and to satisfy all the demands made before and during the Championships. Their contact numbers are available on the Val d'Isère website.
